welcome <3

I’m so glad you’re here!! My name is Casey and I’m a 26-year-old Capricorn living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I fell in love with essay writing in high school, but I didn’t fully nurture this passion while studying international affairs in D.C., nor while working in corporate investigations during and after getting a master’s degree. For a little over a year now, I’ve been trying my hand at freelance journalism while publishing essays here (and elsewhere).

My goal with meanderings is to provide a space for myself (and you!) to take it slow, luxuriate a bit in writing and reading, stopping every so often to smell the flowers or enjoy the view. Some of my essays try to disentangle some complex issues in culture and politics; others are more literary and less argumentative. I’m motivated by the imperative to wrest our conception of “value” and “productivity” from capitalist incentives, which encourage us to try to monetize and optimize even our rest and leisure time, so you’ll find that as a recurring theme.

thought this was artsy and cool lol

I’m always open to chat about writing, books, journalism, politics, literally anything at all! It’s an honor that you’re here reading this and I hope you stick around as long as you’d like <3

(and btw I will be keeping this publication free for the foreseeable future but if you’d like to buy me a coffee my Venmo is casey-wetherbee!)
